Join in celebrating FGCU president’s installation Jan. 12

Florida Gulf Coast University faculty, staff, students and the public are invited to attend the presidential installation ceremony of Aysegul Timur at 10 a.m. Jan. 12, 2024 at FGCU’s Alico Arena. An outdoor lunch will immediately follow the event.
The inauguration, similar to a university commencement, is one of great joy, and it will mark FGCU’s achievements over the past 26 years and what lies ahead for the institution.
During this ceremony, Timur will be installed with the articles and symbols of FGCU’s President’s Office, and she will receive the presidential chain of office from the FGCU Board of Trustees. Following her installation, she will address the university community and share her vision for the institution.
Timur was unanimously confirmed as FGCU’s fifth president by the Florida Board of Governors in June after she was selected as president-elect by the FGCU Board of Trustees. She assumed the top leadership role at the university July 1, following the retirement of Mike Martin, who now carries the title of president emeritus.
