FGCU is sitting pretty atop a ranking of “30 Amazing Colleges at the Beach.”

Online Schools Center, a college information website, recently placed FGCU ahead of higher-education institutions in coastal California as well as beauty spots like Malaysia, the Virgin Islands and Australia. Eckerd College in St. Petersburg ranked second.

After mentioning that half of FGCU’s campus consists of conserved wetlands and uplands, the site spotlights our North Lake Village residential community and its famous Lakefront Beach.

“Some learners live very close to the wet stuff indeed. … The complex’s lucky residents are just steps from pristine white sands and a beautiful 80-acre recreational body of water. What’s more, picnic areas in the vicinity are perfect for al fresco feasts with friends, while various water sports are on offer on the lake for the more adventurous.”

To develop rankings, website editors said they started by surveying other lists of beach-friendly campuses published by Campus Explorer and Surfer Magazine. They also considered proximity and ease of access to stretches of sand, natural beauty and suitability for swimming, water sports and other activities.

Online Schools Center gathers information about colleges and universities to help prospective students find useful information to make informed decisions about their education.
