FGCU to award 692 degrees at summer commencement

Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) will award 692 degrees at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5. More than 430 graduates are expected to participate in the summer commencement ceremony in Alico Arena on the Fort Myers campus.

FGCU President Mike Martin will confer degrees, and the commencement address will be presented by Peter Bergerson, Ph.D., professor of political science.

Management is the most represented undergraduate major. Clinical mental health counseling will be the most awarded master’s degree.

Tickets for 2,825 guests have been distributed for the ceremony, which also can be viewed via webcast at https://fgcu.edu/webcast.

Alico Arena policy prohibits balloons and noisemakers, and they will not be allowed indoors during the ceremony.

FGCU has awarded more than 30,000 degrees since opening in fall 1997.
