The FGCU Effect

1 - minute read

Mural brings motto to life. Four intrepid students spend a year creating work of art that captures the faces, spirit of the university.

Four students have created a movable mural highlighting The FGCU Effect. The mural, which took a year to complete, celebrates 20 years of excellence.
Senior Victoria Matthews, a marketing major who serves as the student brand ambassador for FGCU’s University Marketing and Communications Department, came up with the concept and coordinated the project. Bret Munson, a junior engineering-turned-journalism major, designed and constructed the mural. Sophomore Luke Lamos, a pre-professional biology major, created the design and painted it onto the canvas. And senior biotechnology major Taylor Power also painted the mural.
The work incorporates hundreds of photos of students, faculty and staff taken at campus events. The photos are symbolic of The FGCU Effect, of the impact FGCU has on individuals and how they, in turn, impact the community.
