Vanessa Diaz of West Palm Beach and Tyanna Buie of Detroit are internationally recognized artists who exhibit regularly, are included in museum collections and teach at universities. They worked together for the first time on this collaborative exhibition investigating the emotional and psychological effects of the home.

Diaz reassembles salvaged furniture to create new sculptural forms. Buie creates hand-printed wallpaper that recalls her memories of growing up in foster care and the effects it had on her and her family. The sum of these two artists’ work is a complex installation that welcomes the viewer to wander through “rooms” throughout the gallery, encountering memories and dreams of these architectural spaces.

The Main Gallery is in the Arts Complex on FGCU’s main campus at 10501 FGCU Blvd. S. Parking is available in Lot 7 for gallery visitors. Regular viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
