Alumni aim for Strikes for Scholarships

1 - minute read

Talk about perfect 10s. The FGCU Alumni Association’s annual bowling bash to raise money for scholarships rolls out a series of 10s this year:

It’s been 10 years since the association launched the annual fundraiser. (Happy anniversary!)

The event is happening this year on the 10th of September.

And, well, there are 10 pins in bowling, of course.

We’ll “spare” you any more numerical notes and just get to the facts now.

Strikes for Scholarships will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at HeadPinz Entertainment Center, 14513 Global Parkway in Fort Myers. Last year’s sold-out event raised more than $20,000 for student scholarships.

“It’s so gratifying to have our alumni support this annual tradition and the impact it makes for our students,” said Alumni Relations Director Kimberly Wallace. “It’s a great opportunity for our alumni and friends to reconnect while making a difference for the next generation of Eagles.”

About 300 alumni will bowl, network and bid in the silent auction all while enjoying refreshments. Bowlers can sign up individually or as a team at $30 per adult and $15 per child (7 and younger), including shoe rental. Prizes will be awarded for top bowler, most spirited team and top turkey.

To register, go to the Alumni Association website. For more information, call Assistant Director of Programs Angela Kunkle at (239) 745-4343.

The Alumni Association is dedicated to engaging graduates in a lifelong allegiance with FGCU and fellow alumni, cultivating opportunities for personal and professional growth after graduation, celebrating pride in the principles and achievements of FGCU and its graduates and inspiring individual investment in the university’s future.
