The Borgat's Baby, Zoey HopeNadege Borgat, (Marketing) and Don Borgat, ’14 (Accounting), welcomed a baby girl, Zoey Hope, in December. She was 7 pounds, 12 ounces. They have two other children, Malik Levert (9 years old) and Ethan Xavier (2 years old). They live in Cape Coral.

Chance Bembinster (Computer Information Systems) and Joanne Bembinster, ’14 (Master’s, Educational Leadership), were married on Jan. 29. They live in DeLand.

Michael McCabe, (English), was elected stockholder at the law firm of Henderson, Franklin, Starnes, & Holt. He will represent insurance carriers, third party administrators, and employers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims. He lives in Fort Myers.

Erik Hansen, (Environmental Studies), was named Cedaredge Golf Club’s new clubhouse operations director in Cedaredge, Colo.

Bruce Michael Barone, Jr., (History), was named executive director of the Fifth Avenue South Business Improvement District in Naples. The mission is to brand, promote and create awareness of the district by residents and visitors.

Brooke Przespolewski, (Elementary Education), was awarded the Golden Apple Teacher Award by Lee County Public Schools.  She is a kindergarten teacher at Gulf Elementary School in Cape Coral, where she resides.

Amanda Beights, (Master’s, Curriculum and Instruction), was announced as the first “Ooh La La Legacy Lady” of the 2018 season by Ooh La La Jewels Du Jour. This program celebrates women who leave a lasting legacy in the community. She is an experienced educator and is the vice president of the Leadership Collier Foundation. She lives in Naples.

Darren Davis, (Communication), was elected president of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. He is in his seventh year serving on the organization’s board. He lives in Naples.

Dale Moeller, (Resort & Hospitality Management), was named general manager at The Club at Barefoot Beach.  He began his career as a student intern with The Club at Barefoot Beach in 2006 while attending FGCU.  He also serves on FGCU’s Advisory Board for Resort & Hospitality Management.  He lives in Fort Myers with his wife and daughter.

 

Stacy Sewell, (Marketing), was promoted to vice president of marketing at Bella Collina in Montverde. She will oversee the marketing of Bella Collina’s real estate endeavors.

Kylee Brinkman, (Resort & Hospitality Management), recently opened the second location of The Bowl in downtown Naples. The Bowl offers healthy, organic fruit bowls and smoothies. She started the business by selling her organic fruit bowls and smoothies at local farmers’ markets in Southwest Florida.

Amy Novakovich, (Finance), was named chair of the Board of Directors for the Parkinson Association of Southwest Florida, Inc. She is also the co-founder of Nova Wealth Management. She lives in Bonita Springs.

Brooke Sweat, (Resort & Hospitality Management), received a bronze medal in a Fort Lauderdale sand volleyball tournament in March.  She travels around the world playing beach volleyball professionally and was also a 2016 U.S. Olympian.  She lives in Estero.

William Snyder, (Criminal Justice Studies), has been re-appointed as the sheriff of Martin County by Gov. Rick Scott, for a term ending in June 2019. He lives in Stuart.

Meg Schaap's Art Piece

Meg Schaap, (Art), created a portrait that depicted Marie Antoinette as a young woman. It will be featured in Touchstone Gallery’s exhibition. Her art pieces are in private collections in the Netherlands, Belgium, and the United States. She lives in Potomac, Md.

Douglas Stevens, (Health Science), was named as branch operations manager- escrow officer at Stewart Title Company. He lives in Fort Myers.

Rachel Keesling, (Master’s, Educational Technology), was named president of the Southwest Florida League of Cities. She is also the mayor of Punta Gorda, where she lives.

Patrick McQuillan, (Master’s, Public Administration), was named director of major gifts for Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation. He was previously the director of development for NCH Healthcare Foundation in Naples. He lives in Sarasota.

David Blue, (Resort & Hospitality Management), joined 7Summits as senior vice president of sales. 7Summits is a full service communications agency. He lives in Milwaukee, Wisc.

Christina Campbell, (Communication), recently joined The Riley Smith Group, a premier real estate team in South Florida as a sales associate. She lives in Miami.

Kristen Bachmeier, (Marketing), was appointed to serve on the marketing advisory board for the Lutgert College of Business. She is employed by Atilus as  director of operations. She lives in Fort Myers.

Samantha Kleiman, (Communication), was recently named associated director of strategic partnerships at Junior Achievement of South Florida. Junior Achievement trains the next generation of business leaders, employees and consumers by educating students about financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness. She lives in Hollywood, Fla.

Veronica Larriva, (Master’s, Accounting and Taxation), has been named partner with the firm McHale, P.A. She also received the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ “Horizon Award,” which recognizes the brightest young CPAs in Florida. She lives in Fort Myers.

Tiffany Esposito, (Master’s, Business Administration), has been announced as 2018’s Woman of the Year by the Zonta Club of Bonita Springs-Estero. She is the president and CEO of the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and leads the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the Bonita Springs Estero Economic Developmental Council. She lives in Fort Myers.

Jesse Larsen, (Master’s, Business Administration), was recently appointed by Residential Options of Florida to its Collier County Board of Trustees. The organization’s mission is to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to successfully obtain and maintain affordable and inclusive housing of their choice. He lives in Naples.

Caitlin Kelly, (Communication), was promoted to senior remarketing analyst at Hertz. She lives in Fort Myers.

Shannon Quinn, (Master’s, Business Administration), was named director of marketing and events at Gulfshore Business and Gulfshore Life magazines. She lives in Fort Myers.

James Stephens, (Computer Information Systems), recently joined Atilus as a web developer. He was an FGCU cheerleader and went to the NCAA men’s basketball tournament for the historic Sweet Sixteen appearance. He lives in Naples.

Nancy Acevedo, (Legal Studies), was named Counselor of the Year at Abuse Counseling and Treatment (ACT) of Hendry County. She is working toward her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health at FGCU while she continues to work as a counselor. She lives in LaBelle.

Kent Kozlowski, (Management), has been named as an agency account manager for Old Republic Title. He lives in Fort Myers.

Brooke Lester, (Resort & Hospitality Management), accepted the position of catering sales manager at Lowes Boston Hotel in Boston. She will assist social and corporate clients with their event and meeting needs.

Alexander Benner, (Communication), has been hired as a family service counselor at NorthStar Memorial Group. He lives in Fort Lauderdale.

Juan Cubillo, (Communication), graduated from U.S. Air Force basic training at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.

Jeffrey Biederwolf, (English), graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, in San Antonio, Texas.

Skye Gonzalez, (Communication), transitioned to a new position within Enterprise. She was a station manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. She is now a sales consultant at Enterprise Car Sales. She lives in Fort Myers.

Thieldens Elneus, (Computer Information Systems), has been hired as an IT analyst at NCH Healthcare System. While attending FGCU, he was the student body president from 2015 to 2017, and also served as a resident assistant from 2013 to 2015. He lives in Fort Myers.

Parker Matson, (Management), was named assistant project manager at GATES Construction. He will focus on supporting the company’s efforts across a wide range of construction capacities from estimating and permitting. He lives in Bonita Springs.

Sydney Fahrenbruch, (Marketing), recently joined Atilus as its administrative coordinator. She brings experience in customer service and digital marketing to her new position. She resides in Naples.

Alexander Rivero, (Communication), has joined Promotional Incentives Inc. as a marketing and sales associate. He will assist with sales presentations and product research, along with managing the company’s social media platforms. He lives in Cape Coral.

Samuel Chaffin, (Management), is now a business technology consultant at Zeno Office Solutions a Xerox Company. While attending FGCU, he split his time as a student and athlete playing all three years on FGCU’s men’s tennis team. He lives in Land O’Lakes.
