Jamie Howes, (Master’s, Accounting and Taxation), was promoted to senior accountant at Hughes, Snell & Co., P.A. She joined the firm in 2016 through a tax internship.

Melanie Schmees, (Finance), was appointed director of business & economic research for The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce. She will support local business development efforts through economic development initiatives, business retention and expansion, and economic research and analysis.

Krista Wyant, (Communication), joined Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Co., P.A. as a marketing and graphics associate. She will design and maintain the website, create presentations and advertisements, draft news releases and design promotional items.

Daniella Lorio (Exercise Science) of Naples passed her American Society of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist exam and began working at Moorings Park as an exercise specialist.

Kate Humphrey (Social Work) of Naples has been named victim advocate at Project HELP Inc. She works with employees of the organization to support survivors through the forensic process after a sexual assault or trauma due to violence, sexual assault or sudden death of a loved one.

Edwardo Castro, (Accounting), has joined Sanibel Captiva Community Bank as an operations clerk with the bank’s operations center on College Parkway. He is responsible for a variety of duties to support the bank operations.

Danielle Hudzina, (Doctorate, Education), was selected by the Charlotte County School District as the new principal at Vineland Elementary School in Rotonda West. She previously taught at Punta Gorda Middle School and was also a department head there. She lives in Port Charlotte.

Alexander Miel, (Integrated Studies), has joined Allyn International Services, Inc. as a logistics specialist at the company’s global headquarters in Fort Myers.  He is responsible for collecting and communicating all necessary information related to shipments, projects and services. He lives in Cape Coral.

Kayla Fridd, (Master’s, Business Administration), has been appointed certification director of the board of directors for the Society for Human Resource Management of Southwest Florida, which is the local chapter of the national SHRM.

Kenneth Segura, (Legal Studies), has been promoted to treasury management associate at Sanibel Captiva Community Bank. He will assist in overseeing the bank’s treasury management products, including business online banking.

Cory Mahosky (Accounting) of Fort Myers has joined Markham Norton Wright & Co. P.A. after working with the firm as an intern. He works in the tax division, helping to prepare individual and business tax returns and provide supportive accounting services. He is working on his Master of Science in Accounting and Taxation at FGCU.

Miranda Marts

Miranda Marts (Master’s, Clinical Mental Health Counseling) of Naples joined the board of directors of Project HELP. She is working toward her Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling credentials and teaches part-time at FGCU in the Department of Justice Studies. She also coordinates internships and leads a mentoring program that partners with at-risk teens in the community.

Ashley Parks

Ashley Parks (Master’s, Accounting and Taxation) was nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year. The award, established in 1991, honors female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers. Ashley is the second FGCU women’s soccer player nominated for the award.
