Florida Gulf Coast University’s RESTART SWFL initiative has granted the first Seals of Confidence to 15 businesses (with an additional five pending). The Seal of Confidence is designed to bring a renewed sense of assurance to customers. Displaying the seal signifies that a business owner has pledged to adhere to a set of four standards involving health, business and ethical practices and has participated in two business- or health-related discussions.
The first businesses earning the RESTART SWFL Seal of Confidence from FGCU’s Lutgert College of Business and Marieb College of Health & Human Services are:
- ASAP Moving Solutions (Naples, Florida)
- Bradley’s Jewelers (Fort Myers, Florida)
- Brightway Insurance (North Fort Myers, Florida)
- Drobnic & Associates Chiropractic (Fort Myers, Florida)
- Ellio Pilates, Tai Chi & More (Fort Myers, Florida)
- Entech (Fort Myers, Florida)
- Fucinari Consulting LLC/Decatur Back and Neck Center (Buckeye, Arizona/Decatur, Illinois)
- Gulfshore Opera (Naples, Florida)
- Island Walk Bar and Grill (Naples, Florida)
- Keep Lee County Beautiful (Fort Myers, Florida)
- Kelly L. Fayer, P.A. (Fort Myers, Florida)
- LadyCakes Bakery (Cape Coral, Florida)
- Larson Educational Services (Fort Myers, Florida)
- Reverse My Diabetes (Marco Island, Florida)
- Seed and Bean Market (Fort Myers, Florida)
The tenets of the RESTART SWFL Seal of Confidence show that owners will conduct business:
- To meet or exceed current CDC guidelines for best public health practices, and ensure all employees are committed to upholding these guidelines for the safety of all.
- To be vigilant in monitoring and promptly addressing matters that concern the health of customers and employees.
- To charge fair-market prices for goods and services.
- To apply sound ethical principles to business activities with utmost honesty and integrity.
While taking the pledge is the first step for business owners to earn the seal, they must also participate in two free courses and complete a questionnaire based on each course. So far, FGCU has hosted two panel discussions – the first focusing on public health strategies to ensure responsible business operations and the second dedicated to managing for success. Two more are scheduled this month, with a third expected.
The web-based discussions are led by FGCU experts and community leaders. These are aimed at assisting businesses in complying with new standards in hygiene and best practices for business so consumers are assured establishments have sound practices in place to ensure their well-being and are providing fair value and service.
