1 - minute read

Do you have specialized knowledge or experience to share with the community in a lecture or short course? Consider submitting a proposal to FGCU’s Renaissance Academy, Southwest Florida’s premier source of lifelong learning.

The Renaissance Academy is calling for new lecture topics and instructors for its year-round programs at 15 locations in Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties. Programs are offered weekdays, evenings and weekends and are typically 75-90 minutes long. The academy pays $75 per lecture.

Renaissance Academy logoLecturers may offer single classes and/or short courses in art, business, computer instruction, ecology, environment, government, history, law, life enrichment, literature, music, philosophy, psychology, religion, science, sociology, medicine and U.S. and world affairs. Lecturers do not need advanced degrees but must have prior lecture experience and should have proficiency with PowerPoint or other visual teaching aids.

Administered by FGCU’s Office of Continuing Education & Off Campus Programs, the academy encourages older adults to continue learning, based on the knowledge that keeping the mind intellectually, creatively and culturally active fundamentally enriches and invigorates lives. Single lectures, short courses, day trips, computer classes, film series, life enrichment, and travel abroad are some of the programs offered at the Renaissance Academy. There are no exams or grades — it’s just learning for the joy of learning with friends, neighbors and peers.
