“We’ve done plenty in twenty.”
Tony Barringer, associate provost and associate vice president for faculty affairs, came up with that catchy phrase during a meeting of FGCU’s 20th Anniversary Committee.
The statement describes perfectly the two decades that have elapsed since FGCU opened in 1997. Those on campus have seen special banners commemorating the anniversary hanging about, and the official FGCU at 20 celebration kicked off in August during Welcome Back Week
The party continues through 2017, a year that will see the University bid farewell to its third president and welcome a fourth. It also will be an academic year highlighted by the return of Convocation, an FGCU at 20 float in the Edison Grand Parade of Light in February and special 20th anniversarythemed events.
Already launched is a great new website – fgcuat20.com – where besides details about all those events, you’ll find a year-by-year history of the University, video memories by some of its founders, photos through the years, resources and other fun stuff.
