Music, movies, carnival games, sports – it’s all part of the fun Friday through Sunday during Eagle Family Weekend.

The annual event organized by the Office of New Student Programs is designed for the parents/guardians, siblings, children, friends and families of FGCU students to learn more about the university and develop a deeper understanding of The FGCU Effect, the transformative power that inspires our students to inspire others.

Throughout the weekend there will be fun activities and opportunities to interact with students, faculty and staff.

FGCU’s soccer teams also will be hosting the Atlantic Sun Conference championships this weekend at the Soccer Complex, after both teams finished the regular season on top. The women play at 7 p.m. Friday and could advance to the title at 1 p.m. Sunday; the men play at 7 p.m. Saturday in the semifinal; the championship is Nov. 14.

Carnival games are part of the fun on the Library Lawn.

Friday features an afternoon showcase for student research and service projects in the Cohen Center from 3 to 5 p.m. as well as an 8 p.m. Symphonic Band and Wind Orchestra concert under the stars in Lutgert Plaza.

On Saturday, families can start the day serenely with an 8 a.m. yoga session on the beautiful waterfront of North Lake Village, enjoy a carnival with live music and games from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Library Lawn and put their best feet forward in a family vs. students kickball match at Recreation Field No. 1. The day concludes with the popular FGCU Hockey Club taking on Bryant University at 8:30 p.m. at nearby Germain Arena.

Activities on Sunday include a 9 a.m. Zumba class at Rec Field No. 2 followed by a 10:30 a.m. farewell brunch with the Resident Housing Association at the South Village Outdoor Pavilion.
