Greg Longenhagen directs “The Foreigner” by Larry Shue, a comic romp in which a pathologically shy young man overcome with fear at talking to strangers is introduced to a group as being unable to speak English. The fun begins as he overhears revelations such as the plans of a sinister, two-faced minister and much more as people assume he does not understand what they are saying. Shows: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17-18 and 24-25 and 2 p.m. Feb. 19, 25-26. Tickets: $10 general public, $7 for students. Order at: fgcu.edu/cas/bsma

Where art and science intersect

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Paper engineer Matthew Shlian’s work is rooted in print media, book arts and commercial design. Researchers see paper engineering as a metaphor for scientific principles; Shlian sees their inquiry as a basis for artistic inspiration. He will exhibit work and partner with FGCU faculty and students to create new work related to research being conducted at FGCU. His work will be on display in the main gallery Jan. 26 through March 2. An artist talk takes place at 6 p.m. Jan. 26 in U. Tobe Recital Hall with a reception following at 8 p.m. in the Arts Complex.
